Jakarta - The rate of public satisfaction with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's performance drops, according to the result of latest survey by Lingkaran Survey Indonesia (LSI). The rate of public satisfaction with President Yudhoyono's performance was down from 63.1 percent in January 2010 (the first 100 days in office) to 46.2 percent in October 2011 (two years after in office), LSI Network researcher Ardian Sopa said to newsmen here on Sunday. The rate of public satisfaction with President Yudhoyono's government in the first year (October 2010) reached 60.7 percent. The latest LSI survey was carried out on October 5 to 10, 2011 using a multi-stage random sampling method of interviews and questionaires involving 1,200 respondents from 33 provinces with a margin of error of 2.9 percent. Ardian said 50.5 percent said they were not satisfied with President Yudhoyono while 7.6 percent said they were and 11.9 percent of the respondents did not give answers. The drop in public satisfaction was found in five sectors with the rate of public satisfaction recorded below 50 percent namely economic, political, legal, social and foreign affairs sectors while in one sector namely security President Yudhoyono got a positive mark above 50 percent. The rate of electability of President Yudhoyono's Democrat Party meanwhile has also dropped from 32.6 percent in January 2010 to 16.5 percent in October 2011. According to the LSI survey results, respondents' satisfaction with Vice President Boediono also drops from 53 percent in January 2010 to 47.1 percent in October 2010 and 39 percent in October 2011. The rate of public satisfaction with the second Unity Cabinet's performance also slid from 52.3 percent in January 2010 to 46.5 percent in October 2010 and 31.6 percent in October 2011. The rate of electability of Golkar Party meanwhile rose to 18.2 percent of respondents in October, 2011 from 17.9 percent in June 2011 while President Yudhoyono's Democrat Party rose to 16.5 percent from 15.5 percent in the same period. The rate of electability of the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) however dropped from 14.5 percent in June 2011 to 12.5 percent in October 2011. The presidential candidates with a rate of electability of more than 10 percent include Megawati Soekarnoputri (PDIP), Prabowo Subianto (Gerindra) and Aburizal Bakrie (Golkar) while the rate of electability of candidates from the Democratic Party namely Anas Urbaningrum and Marzuki Alie is below 10 percent. The LSI has recommended a correct cabinet reshuffle to increase the rate of public satisfaction with President Yudhoyono and quick, courageous and strict compromise actions without compromise in the corruption eradication drives and in improving public welfare.
