Prabowo to Strenghten Anti-Graft Body if Elected President

Semarang, C Java (Antara) - Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Advisory Council chief and presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto has reiterated his intention to strengthen the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) if he is elected president. "I may be the only presidential candidate who will double the budget for KPK to strengthen it in combating corruption from its roots, if I receive a mandate from the people to become president," he emphasized here on Thursday. Speaking in front of thousands of Gerindra cadres and supporters in the Pancasila square here, Prabowo, who is also former commandant general of the Army's special elite force (Kopassus) pointed out that Gerindra is the only political party that has new strategic programs to develop the Indonesian nation. "With the strategy, we are seeking to create millions of hectares of new paddy fields for the people and farmers and to create tens of millions of job opportunities for our people," he promised. Prabowo explained that he is proud and not ashamed of being dubbed "a dreamer" by many. "I am not ashamed of being dubbed a dreamer because my dream is to make Indonesia a respected, and self-reliant nation," he pointed out. (*)
