Jakarta (Antara) - Seven people were injured during demonstrations at the Horse Statue to protest against the impending decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) in the election result dispute, Jakarta Regional Police said, Thursday. "Seven people who were injured during a demonstration at the Horse Statue have been taken to the hospital," Head of Medicine and Health, Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner, Musyafak, said here. The seventh injured, was a member of the Communication Forum Retired Military/Police Indonesia (FKPPI), Aziz S, Ahmadi Rihut. Among the other injured was a member of the Gandhari, Forkabi Ahmad Bari, one of Pemuda Panca Marga, Asril Tandirerung, a member of Gerindra Party, M Duha, a civil society member, Rosely MS, and a police officer, Brigadier Giyanto. Four victims suffered bruises after they fell in the melee and they are being treated in Tarakan Hospital, Central, Jakarta, Musyafak said. One of the victims asked for a referral to the Central Hospital of the Army, Central Jakarta. The majority of the victims were injured when they fell during the stampede after officers sprayed them with water from a water cannon, Musyafak remarked. "There were no injuries from a blow or from shots (rubber bullets) fired by officers," he emphasized. Three other victims were allowed to go home because they had suffered just minor injuries or were temporarily affected by the tear gas, Musyafak pointed out. Another victim was a member of the Central Jakarta Police, Brigadier Giyanto, who was wounded in the back after he was hit by a barrier. He had not heard anything about dozens of victims undergoing treatment at Budi Kemuliaan hospital in Central Jakarta, Musyafak claimed. "We will check all hospitals to look for other victims," he added. (*)
