Sukabumi, West Java (ANTARA) - As many as 38 residents of Cianjur District, West Java, who suffered injuries in the 5.6 magnitude earthquake on Monday, November 21, were referred to R Syamsudin SH Regional Hospital, Sukabumi City.
"The injured victims, who were referred to RSUD R Syamsudin SH, have received intensive care from the hospital's medical team," Head of General Affairs and Personnel Division at RSUD R Syamsudin SH Supriyanto stated on Tuesday.
Supriyanto noted that the victims arrived at the hospital since Monday evening, and they immediately received treatment from medical workers, who had been on standby since the earthquake.
In addition, they have readied a special room for injured victims.
"From the results of the examination, majority of the victims suffered head injuries and trauma due to (being) hit by blunt objects, such as having suffered lacerations caused by falling debris from a collapsed house or other hard objects," he explained.
As of now, the health condition of some victims has shown improvement, yet some of them still needed intensive medical treatment.
His administration has also made preparations to treat those referred from Cianjur, ranging from rooms, patient beds, equipment, medicines, to medical staff.
R Syamsudin SH Regional Hospital became one of the referral hospitals for earthquake victims from Cianjur, as several hospitals in the district were damaged and could no longer cater to the ever-increasing number of patients.
"It is likely that the number of referred patients from Cianjur will increase. However, we have prepared everything," he added.
Supriyanto said that for patients, who only experienced minor injuries and whose condition had recovered, his administration would immediately send them home, so that the rest of the patients could be accommodated.
