HMI Hopes Presidential Candidates Keep National Stability

Jakarta (Antara) - The Muslim Students Association (HMI) has required presidential and vice presidential candidates to maintain the national stability thoroughly.
"The would be nation leaders should be able to determine the way to be taken by Indonesians," the HMI general chairman M Arief Rosyid Hasan said here on Wednesday night.
Arief said that the upcoming president and vice president elect will not only replace President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono.
However, he said, the president and vice president for 2014-2019 period must maintain national stability and plurality owned by all Indonesian people.
According to Arief, Indonesia will undergo a demographic process in the form of an increase in the potential and productive younger generation.
Arief also asked the president and vice-presidential pairs to make the presidential poll as a platform to save the democratic political, economic and prioritize the potential youth.
In addition, Arief said that his side does not form group to one president and vice-presidential duo, because vice presidential candidates Hatta Rajasa and Jusuf Kalla are the HMI alumni who have important role.
Currently, Indonesia has two presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs, Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla, who will contest in the July 9 presidential election. (*)
