Jakarta (Antara) - Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo, former head of the police traffic corps, arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission on charges of corruption, denied the charges.
Djoko was charged with corruption in the procurement of Rp196.8 billion worth of simulators for driving license when he was chief of the police traffic corps.
He said he was arrested by KPK without solid evidence based only on a testimony of a person.
"My only fault was negligence in management, partly because I was too busy as head of the police traffic corps," he told the court in his trial here on Tuesday.
Djoko, who is also charged with money laundering said the court has found no evidence of corruption charge against him and the assets confiscated by KPK were all legal.
KPK has confiscated a number of houses and other property worth more than Rp100 billion.
He pointed out he already had the assets long before the alleged simulator corruption was committed.
The prosecutor asked the court to sentence Djoko to 18 years' imprisonment with a fine of Rp1 billion. (*)
