Jakarta (Antara) - The selection committee in charge of selecting candidates for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership is coordinating with the police to screen the track records of candidates from the police force.
"We have asked for police assistance for checking the track records of the candidates for the KPK leadership," Destry Damayanti, the committee's chairperson, stated at the police headquarters here on Monday.
She affirmed that National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti and Deputy Police Chief Commissioner Budi Gunawan have responded positively to the request.
She stressed on the importance of evaluating the track records of the candidates to avert future problems regarding their past.
The committee has so far received applications from 15 people belonging to various backgrounds including academicians, civil servants, activists, and businesspersons.
Destry remarked that the committee would not only cooperate with the police but also with the prosecutor's office and the Center of Financial Transactions Reporting and Analysis. (*)
