Purwokerto, C Java (Antara) - The Purwokerto public prosecutor's office in Central Java on Wednesday detained rector of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) Edy Yuwono for his alleged part in a graft case. The office also detained Budi Rustomo, fourth assistant to the Unsoed rector, and Winarto Hadi, head of the university's printing technical unit, on similar charges. The three suspects are being held at the Purwokerto penitentiary, chief of the public prosecutor's office A Dita Prawitaningsih said. Dita said the three are accused of embezzling funds of the university's public service board related to a Rp5.8 billion cooperation project with state mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) in Grabag, Purworejo district, Central Java. Based on the result of an audit by the Central Java development finance comptroller, the graft case has inflicted Rp2.154 billion in losses to the state. (*)
