Surabaya, E Java, Sept 7 (Antara) - A member of the Surabaya city legislative council has urged the law enforcement agency to probe an allegation of illegal levies and fund misappropriation at the city-owned market operator PD Pasar Surya.
The alleged corruption case involved not only low-class employees but also the management of the company, member of the councilżs commission B for economic affairs, Ahmad Zakariya said here on Wednesday.
As the public has reported and PD Pasar Surya has followed up, the alleged corruption case also has involved the chief of the market. But it is impossible that they had the guts to embezzle that amount of money without support from their superior, he saids.
"Let the law enforcement agency follow up the report," he said.
Based on the report from the public and internal audit of the company last week PD Pasar Surya has dismissed a number of market chiefs and reported the alleged corruption cases to the police. Among the market chiefs who have been dismissed are the chief of Babaan Market, Keputran Selatan Market, Kupang market and Gubeng Masjid market..
In addition, the management of the market claimed that it has conducted internal audit of four markets including Kembang market with a potential loss of Rp166,982,925, Wonokromo market Rp110,951,60078, Kupang mket with more than Rp12 million Keputran Selatan market, with total losses of 110.836.198.0 (*)
