Dumai, Riau (Antara) - A Malaysian national has been caught at the port of Dumai in Sumatra's province of Riau for bringing in 96.83 grams of methamphetamine. Woon Chee Kon (52) was caught at 11.45 on Friday by customs officers after disembarking from Indomal Express ferry from Malaysia, Dumai Resort Police Command's Chief Intelligence T.F Hutagaol said to newsmen here on Saturday. He said the police had received the case from the customs service and are now investigating it intensively. He said the suspect is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail if later convicted, based on the country's narcotic law. "We have detained the suspect and confiscated the evidence," he said. The intelligence chief of the Dumai Customs Service, MC Sarmento, said the suspect was arrested after he was caught carrying the drug illegally during physical checking. He hid the drug in his shoes and also in his anus. "We have transferred the suspect to the police for further processing," he said. (*)
