Gorontalo (Antara) -- Police in Gorontalo province arrested a local legislator on the charge of consuming drugs, a spokesman said.
"The narcotics investigation directorate of the provincial police, in cooperation with the national narcotics board office and the Gorontalo city police, made the arrest on Tuesday at 5.30 a. m. local time when the suspect was staying at his villa in Leato village, Gorontalo city," Head of the Public Relations Service of the Gorontalo provincial police Adj. Snr. Comsr. Lisma Dunggio said here on Tuesday.
The suspect, who is identified by his initials as LA, was earlier arrested for allegedly possessing 1.1 milligrams of crystal meth (sabu-sabu).
"But the chief of the narcotics unit of the Gorontalo Limboto police resort did not follow up on the case, which is why he (LA) has not been detained until now," Dunggio explained.
He added that LA was being interrogated at the Gorontalo provincial police station as part of investigations into the case.
"I cannot ascertain whether LA will be detained yet. Let's wait for the result of the investigation," he stated. (*)
