Depok, West Java (Antara) - The new deputy police chief Comr. Gen. Oegroseno spoke favorably about further investigations on a high profile corruption case involving police generals. The Jakarta special corruption court on Tuesday sentenced former chief of the police traffic department Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo to ten year's imprisonment as the main suspect in a corruption case in the procurement of Rp196 billion worth of car driving license simulator. Reading the verdict the court judge said Rp2.5 billion in ill-gotten money went to Police General Supervision Inspectorate, headed by Oegroseno's predecessor, retired Comr. Gen. Nanan Sukarna. "Investigations have been in the hands of KPK (the Corruption Eradication Commission). We back up KPK," Oegroseno said here on Wednesday. He said police would not take part in the investigations to prevent dualism. Earlier President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had to step in to end conflict between KPK and police over right to investigate the Djoko Susilo case. On Tuesday, the court said after receiving a total of Rp2.5 billion from PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi (CMMA) the Police General Supervision Inspectorate recommended the company to be named winner of the tender for the procurement of the simulators. KPK already questioned Nanan Sukarna earlier when Nana was still active as deputy police chief in his position as head of the inspectorate which had audited the procurement of the simulators. KPK has a number of other suspects in the case including a police brig. general. (*)
