Jakarta (Antara) - Former police chief retired general Da'i Bachtiar said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should share investigations of corruption cases with police and the prosecution office. Police and the prosecution office should take part in the handling corruption cases but under supervision and control of KPK, Da'i Bachtiar said on Monday. With police and the prosecution office taking part in the job, KPK could concentrate on big and more difficult cases, he added. Da'i Bachtiar's statement came in reaction to suggestion of lawmakers that police form a special detachment against corruption as they have formed a special force against terrorism, known as Densus 88. Densus 88, the police special squad, has been effective in fighting terrorism in the country. Da'i Bachtiar, chairman of the presidium of the Indonesian Crime Prevention Agency (LCKI) said no need for police to form special squad to fight corruption. "What is necessary is for KPK to share investigations of corruption cases with other law enforcement agencies including police and the prosecution office," he said. Police already has organizational structure from the center to rural areas, therefore, it would be effective if the structure could be utilized properly to stamp out corruption in sub-district and rural areas, he said.
