Gov't to re-Discuss Soeharto, Gus Dur to Become National Heroes

GOV'T TO RE-DISCUSS SOEHARTO, GUS DUR TO BECOME NATIONAL HEROES Jakarta, April 23 (Antara) - Social Affairs Ministry will discuss again names of two former Presidents namely Soeharto and Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, who have been proposed to become National Heroes. "Social Affairs Ministry will re-discuss a proposal of nine figures (two of them are Soeharto and Gus Dur) to get title of National Heroes, who were not yet discussed in the last two years," said Andi Hanindito, Hero affairs director of the Social Affairs Ministry said here on Tuesday. Andi said during 2011-2012, nine names of figures had never been discussed. But they will be discussed again after the Ministry received some inputs from the people. According to him, several provinces have also proposed several figures to the ministry to be considered as the national heroes. Andi said further that a team of Social Affairs Ministry and 13 historians will make an evaluation in effort to determine the figures who will be entitled as the national heroes. (*)
