Beijing (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that China is a vital partner for Indonesia, both now and in the future.
He made these remarks during a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing on Saturday.
"I would like to stress once again that we regard China as a crucial friend and partner, not only for today but also for the years to come," he said at the meeting.
The bilateral meeting is part of Prabowo's state visit agenda in China, which also includes meetings with President Xi Jinping and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
"Thank you very much for receiving me and my delegation," he added.
Prabowo recalled that during his previous visit to China as Indonesia's Minister of Defense in April, President Xi and the Chinese government had warmly welcomed him with great honor.
"This is very moving for us," he said.
He noted that this reception reflects the strong friendship between the two countries and China's significant respect for Indonesia.
Prabowo also expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for sending Vice President Han Zheng as a special envoy to attend his presidential inauguration in Jakarta on October 20.
He underscored that his state visit to China, the first he has undertaken as president, carries a message of commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Indonesia and China.
Several members of Prabowo’s Cabinet, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, are accompanying him on his visit to China.
