Nusa Dua, Bali (Antara) - Vice President Boediono has congratulated Agus Martowardojo on his being elected as the governor of Bank Indonesia, the central bank.
The vice president offered his congratulation to Agus here on Thursday before attending a cabinet meeting with the National Economic Committee (KEN) which was chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Agus Martowardojo, the finance minister, was elected to replace Darmin Nasution as BI governor through a voting at the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday night in Jakarta.
"Congratulation," said the vice president to Agus who approached him at his seat next to President Yudhoyono.
They then engaged in a short conversation before Agus returned to his seat.
Earlier on Wednesday, presidential special staff for economic affairs Firmansyah said the post of Bank Indonesia Governor Darmin Nasution would last until May 2013, and therefore Agus Martowardojo would continue to do his job as BI governor.
"Although Agus has been elected by the DPR as BI governor, he has yet to be inaugurated and thus he will remain finance minister for the time being," Firmansyah said.
Agus underwent fit and proper test on Monday, and later on Tuesday night House's Commission XI through a voting elected him to replace Darmin Nasution as BI governor. (*)
