Semarang, C Java - Holder of the WBA Super Champion featherweight title, Chris John retained his feather weight boxing title for 17th time by defeating Chonlatarn Priyapinyo of Thailand in Singapore on Friday night. Thus by defeating Priyapinyo with score 117-111, 119-109, and 119-109, John registered 48 wins including 22 knockouts and two draws. Meanwhile the Thai boxer has 44 wins, including 27 knock outs and one lost in his record. In his last fight, Priyapinyo defeated the Philippines' Richard Olisa in Thailand on June 1 this year with a technical knock Out (TKO) in the sixth round. In the meantime Chris John retained his 16th championship title after defeating Japanese Shoji Kimora on points in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on Saturday evening May 5 this year. John turned professional in 1997 and is known as "Thin Man" before he proclaimed his new nickname "The Dragon" that he uses until today, according to WikipediA. In 2005 John split with trainer Sutan Rambing then joined Harry's Gym in Perth, Australia, where he was currently trained and managed by Craig Christian. In the year 2008, Chris John was interviewed by ESPN and he stated that he would fight another 5 or 6 fights and would retire. On October 24, Chris reached and won his 10th milestone world title defense fight, which was also his 5th mandatory fight, against Japan boxer Hiroyuki Enoki in Tokyo, Japan. (*)
