Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Ministry of Population and Family Development (BKKBN) have joined forces to build resilient anti-drug families towards realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
At the ministry's office on Thursday (November 28), Chief of BNN Marthinus Hukom gave a speech in a workshop related to the family-based drug abuse prevention program.
"The cooperation between BNN and the BKKBN is a strategic step in strengthening efforts to prevent and eradicate illegal narcotics abuse and circulation in Indonesia," Hukom stated as quoted from the BNN statement here on Thursday.
He elaborated that the two institutions possess complementary strategic objectives that can effectively reinforce each other. Through cooperation, the two agencies can have a greater impact on building family resilience, especially through preventing drug abuse.
He reported that the number of drug abuse victims in 2023 reached 3.33 million individuals.
On that occasion, civil servants (ASN) in BKKBN at the central and provincial levels attended the workshop on the family-based drug abuse prevention program.
Hukom highlighted that the BKKBN has more than 600 Family Assistance Teams (TPK) spread across Indonesia that can be mobilized to strengthen family resilience through anti-drug actions.
Hence, he emphasized the importance of collaboration in family development and resilience programs.
In addition to the BKKBN, the BNN is also exploring collaboration with the Ministry of Law, the Home Affairs Ministry, the Ministry of Health, the Social Ministry, the Religious Affairs Ministry, and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to increase the protection of families from drug threats.
Meanwhile, Minister of Population and Family Development Wihaji affirmed that his side has two main focuses, namely population and family, with drugs being part of family issues.
"If issues related to drugs are not handled, we are worried that we will lose the Golden Generation," he stated.
