ASEAN Foundation Chief Speaks in Geneva Conference on Multiculturalism

Jakarta - Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation Dr. Makarim Wibisono was invited as a main speaker in a Conference on Multiculturalism: A Contribution to Peace, at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, recently. Dr. Makarim Wibisono made a presentation on ASEAN's approach to migration challenges in the conference. ASEAN Foundation was one of the sponsors, the foundation said in a press statement here on Wednesday. He pointed out as development covers all sectors of life, there are several causes of migration that have been listed, such as in search for higher income and opportunities, lured by friends and relatives and networks, in search of adventure, exploration, curiosity, and fleeing from prosecution and armed conflicts. In this regard, for the sake of human kind and long life, peaceful connectivity between and among countries of the world, and continued dialogues to find solutions should be continuously sought. According to Dr. Makarim Wibisono, the Geneva Conference is an example of a noble effort in addressing the issues meaningfully. (*)
