Minister Denies report about Aid Being Canceled

Indramayu, W Java, March 8 (Antara) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman denied report that tractor aid for farmers in certain area in East Java had been cancelled.
"Perhaps the language should be changed. Not retracted but distributed," Amran said when attending a grand harvest ceremony in Indramayu, West Java, on Wednesday.
Amran said in line with the instruction of the president, aid in tractor which had been symbolically given should be followed with real distribution of the tractors.
"Realization has been made with 1,000 units of tractors in Ngawi for the whole of East Java," he said.
He said the tractors after symbolic delivery would be transported to district areas for distribution among groups of farmers in 24 regencies in the province.
He said 207 units were already distributed for the regency of Ponorogo.
He said so far 30,000 of 60,000 units of tractor have been distributed this year.
He said he would change the system of distribution with the misunderstanding over the system in East Java.
He promised that distribution of tractors among farmers would be completed in two weeks. (*)
