Bogor, W Java (Antara) -- The Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Conservation Park in the mountainous resort area of Cisarua near Bogor city, West Java, has a new member in its wildlife family---a baby white rhinoceros. "The baby white rhinoceros was born on February 10 at around 5:30 p.m. local time, but it was sent to an intensive care unit. This is why we announced its birth to the public today," conservationist Jansen Manansang, who is also the director of TSI in Cisarua, stated here on Tuesday. Accompanied by a spokesman for the conservation park, Yulius H. Suprihardo, Manansang noted that the male white rhino (Ceratotherium simum) was born to rhinoceroses Rimba (Jungle) and Merdeka (Freedom). The baby rhino, which weighs 75 kilograms, is the second white rhino to be born in the TSI conservation park. Born on August 15, 2003, Merdeka was the first. The conversation park in Cisarua, Bogor district, West Java province, is now home to six white rhinoceroses. They include four males and two females, he added. (*) Reported by Andi Jauhari
