Jakarta (Antara) - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) will write to President Joko Widodo and the House of Representatives (DPR) to protest against the execution of drug convicts, its chief Hafid Abbas said. "We will write to the President and the DPR," Hafid said here on Monday. The plan to write to the President and the House is a follow up to a meeting between the Komnas HAM and several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) denouncing the execution of drug convicts on death row, he said. Hafid expressed hope that the government would be willing to stop executing death row drug convicts. "We hope the recent execution of drug convicts is the first and the last," he said. Executing death row drug convicts is not a proper way to eradicate drugs in Indonesia, he said.
