Polri not to Interfere with Arrest of Policemen in Malaysia

Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) reported that it will not intervene in the handling of the legal case of two Indonesian police personnel who were arrested in Malaysia on charge of drug possession.
"The Polri will not interfere in the legal proceedings of the two arrested in Malaysia," said head of the Information Affairs of the National Police's Public Relations Division Senior Commissioner Agus Rianto here on Monday.
Earlier, the Malaysian police (PDRM) had arrested two Indonesian police personnel allegedly involved in drug trafficking in Kuching, Malaysia.
One of the arrested is a middle-ranking officer, with a rank of adjunct senior commissioner who serves as deputy director for Drug Investigation Division III named Idha Endri Prastiono, and the other is Brigadier MH Harahap, a member of the Entikong subdistrict police, West Kalimantan.
Agus expressed concern over the arrest.
"We are concerned because two members of the police have been arrested," he noted. (*)
