Obor Rakyat Tabloid Reported to Police: Joko Widodo

Karawang, W Java (Antara) - Presidential candidate Joko Widodo said here Tuesday that his team of lawyers had filed a police report over libelous "Obor Rakyat" tabloid on Monday. "The tabloid contains black campaigns. This is a criminal act. That is why our team of lawyers has filed the police report," he said. The tabloid's content has discredited him and his pair, Jusuf Kalla, he said adding that he could differ fair news items from the unfair and libelous ones. Asked whether the tabloid's content had affected his electability rating, this former Solo mayor, popularly called Jokowi, admitted that his electability rating had slightly declined. In response to the smear campaigns in publication, the Information Center of the Jokowi-JK pair's volunteers has published a tabloid named "Jokowi-JK Adalah Kita" or "Jokowi-JK are Us". The Information Center Chairman Martin Manurung said the tabloid will be distributed for free to the public from Tuesday. Martin noted that the tabloid's content was based on reliable and responsible data and facts. The Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair will compete with the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa duo in the July 9 presidential election. (*)
