Five Alleged Burglars Killed in Police Firing in Surabaya

Surabaya, East Java (Antara) - Police officers shot dead five alleged robbers when they tried to commit a burglary in a high-end house at Citraland, Surabaya, on Friday.
"This gang had also robbed a house in the same area on April 26 and took goods and money worth around Rp2 billion," Adjunct Senior Commissioner Farman, the head of the Surabaya police's criminal investigation unit, claimed here on Friday.
Four robbers of the gang identified by the initials SY, JM, RN, and DN were inhabitants of Bekasi, while the fifth one with the initials RH hailed from South Lampung.
The police fatally shot the gang members when they used sickles in a bid to evade arrest by the officers.
"Their bodies have been taken to the Dr Soetomo Public Hospital for autopsy," Farman stated. (*)
