Naypyitaw, Dec 13 (Antara) - Erni Sokoy won another gold medal for Indonesia, after winning the 200 m women's kayak 1 (WK1) event at SEA Games 2013 on Friday. The kayak event took place at Ngalike Dam in Naypyitaw, Myanmar¿s capital city. Erni, who hails from Papua, clocked 42.948 seconds, 0.152 seconds faster than Suansan from Thailand, who was awarded a silver medal. The bronze medal in the event was awarded to Hnin Wai Lwin from Myanmar and Siti Rajiah Ali from Malaysia. They both clocked 42.164 seconds. Before winning a gold medal from the WK1 event, Erni had contributed a gold medal for Indonesia in the 500 m WK1, clocking 00,06.090. Erni's achievement in the last day of the kayak event has assured the country met its target. Total medals collected from the event are now four gold, five silver and one bronze medals. "That is true. The target was met," rowing coach Muhamad Suryadi said. He added that the results of the competition in the canoe and kayak events in Southeast Asia have become tighter. In view of that, he hoped all athletes would continue improving their performances by training harder. "If they wish to continue to perform well, athletes must continue training, since competition is now tighter," he said. Unlike Erni Sokoy, Spensstuber Mehue won a silver medal in the 200 m men's canoe 1 (C1), although he was able to win a gold medal in the 500 m men's C1 on the first day. With regard to today's competition, Spensstuber said that he was still grateful for it, since "this is my best achievement and this is only my first time participating in the SEA Games. Following are the results of Indonesia's rowing team through the second day. 1. Erni sokoy: 2 gold medals from 200 m and 500 m K-1. 2. Spensstuber Mehue : one gold medal from 500 m C-1 3.
