Karawang - Eka Octarorianus gave Indonesia its first 26th SEA Games gold medal by winning the Men's 1000-meter Canoe race at Lake Situ Cipule, Karawang, West Java, on Friday. Eka beat Whin H Tikr from Myanmar and Van Long Tran from Vietnam who ended up in second and third position respectively. Meanwhile, another Indonesian rower, Muchlis, who was previously expected to be the first gold medal contributor in the Men's 1000-meter Kayak race, failed to perform as desired and was defeated by Thailand's Wichan Jaitieng. Muchlis ended up in the third place after Singaporean Lucas Teo. On the first day of the competitions at Lake Cipule, gold medals were contested in five events, namely Men's Kayak 1, 2, 4, and Men's Canoe 1 and 2 in the 1000-meter race.
