Indonesia's Maria Londa Breaks SEA Games Record in Trip Jump

Naypyitaw, Myanmar (Antara) - Indonesia's Maria Londa set a new SEA Games record in the women's triple jump at the Wunna Theikdi jogging track in Naypyitaw, Myanmar, on Tuesday. Londa successfully jumped a distance of 14.17 meters, breaking the previous record of 14.08 meters set by Thailand's Thitima Muangjan at the SEA Games held in Laos in 2009. Thitima Muangjan also broke her own record at the current SEA Games after she managed to jump as far as 14.16 meters. She won a silver medal in the event. Vietnam's Hue Hoa Tran won a bronze medal after she jumped a distance of 14.12 meters. "I thank God for this medal. I had to wait for three SEA Games to win it. And now, I have broken the record again," Maria Londa said. She added that her victory was the result of working hard during training, which was supervised by her coach, I. Ketut Pageh. "I only followed the training program. Only God knew whether I would win or lose," she remarked. Last Friday, Indonesian swimmer Triady Faui Sidiq also set a new SEA Games record in the men's 100-meter freestyle at the Wunna Theikdi Aquatic Stadium in Naypyitaw.
