Indonesia Graps Gold Medal at Azerbaijan's Science Olympiad

Sukabumi, W Java (Antara) - Salman Ghifari, student of Hayatan Thayyiban Islamic boarding school in Sukabumi District, West Java Province, grabbed a gold medal at the International Environmental Project Olympiad in Azerbaijan, the school's spokesman said. Ghifari presented a research project describing the use of natrium bicarbonate and acetic acid as a simple tool for fire extinguisher, Ahmad Dzaki told journalists here Sunday. "Before grabbing the gold medal in Azerbaijan, Salman got a bronze medal in the Indonesian Science Project Olympiad (ISPO)," he said. In response to his success at the event, held from April 1 to 7, Salman Ghifari said the research project that he presented in Azerbaijan was the one that he had conducted since early 2013. "When presenting it in front of the board of examiners in English, I am a bid nervous but Thank God, I can finally control myself and, with a strong confidence, I can finish my presentation," he said.
