Jakarta (Antara) - A joint team of Metro Jaya Police, W Java Police, and Sumedang Resort Police have arrested five "airsoft" gun makers suspected of supplying arms to terrorists. "They are suspected to be taking orders for weapons from terrorists," said Senior Commissioner Rikwanto, Public Relations Chief of Jakarta Regional Police, here on Monday. He identified the five arrested airsoft gun makers as DS, YM, YMT, JW, and BD. Rikwanto said the police were informed about the five by one of the purchasers of their firearms, identified as IQ, who was arrested in the Cipayung subdistrict of East Jakarta on Tuesday evening. Rikwanto revealed that the police would also interrogate several other purchasers of firearms from the airsoft gun makers in a bid to uncover the suspects¿ links with terrorist activities. Earlier, on Wednesday last week, police had collected evidence of terrorist activities while conducting a raid at a rented house in Pintu Air village, Medan Satria sub-district, Bekasi, West Java. In the course of the raid, they confiscated two firearms, three magazines, and 70 bullets of 0.9 millimetre calibre. In addition, the officers also seized at the 18-square-meter house several explosives as well as many pieces of plastic pipes, which were suspected to be used as bomb covers. (*)
