Serang, Banten - A man killed was killed when a bridge connecting Kadu Bereum and Padarincang villages in Serang district collapsed on Tuesday (Feb 28), police said. "The unfortunate victim, Jumri (40 years old), was a motorcycle-taxi driver. He was passing the bridge while carrying a wooden block when the disaster happened," Padarincang police precinct chief Deni Ramdani said here Wednesday. Deni said the collapsed bridge. made of solid cement in 1990, was two meters wide and 20 meters long, crossing a river at a height of 10 meters. Last Feb 19, the Cidua bamboo bridge in Cibanteng village, Bogor, a;so collapsed. Twenty-two people fell into the river when the bridge collapsed, but some of them were saved while eight others were washed away. Six of them were later found dead. (*)
