Surabaya - Vice President Boediono and Madame Herawati visited Margorukun clean and green village at Bubutan sub-district in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday morning. In the visit to the clean and green village of Margorukun, the vice president was accompanied by Environment Minister Balthasar Kambuaya, Culture and Education Minister M Nuh, and East Java Governor Soekarwo. At 8 in the morning the vice president arrived at Margorukun village where he was greeted by Surabya Mayor Tri Rismaharini and the local people. Located along a railway line, Margorukun is an example of clean and green village in Surabaya. Margorukun used to be a dirty and slum area in Surabaya but now the local people have turned it into a clean and green village. During the visit to the village, Vice President Boediono would also review a compost kitchen, a wet waste chopper machine, a bio-gas processing unit, a trash bank, and a water treatment. The vice president who arrived in Surabala on Wednesday night for a working visit to East Java was also scheduled to have a dialog with the people of Margorukun village. (*)
