Surabaya (ANTARA) - Acting East Java Governor Adhy Karyono, on Thursday, received a visit from Czech Ambassador to Indonesia Jaroslav Dolecek to follow up on the plan for establishing cooperation in the digital transformation of the transportation sector.
"This is the ambassador's second visit here following his meeting with Madam Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa on July 20, 2023," Karyono told journalists after a closed-door meeting with Dolecek in Surabaya City.
During his visit, Ambassador Dolecek brought a delegation comprising representatives from Skoda Group, a renowned Czech transportation company.
Acting Governor Karyono stated that the Czech company offered cooperation in transforming the technology used in various modes of transportation in Surabaya and its surroundings, such as light rapid transit (LRT) train, mass rapid transit (MRT) train, and bus rapid transit (BRT).
He remarked that the master plan for the digital transformation of transportation has been devised in collaboration with parties from Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
"We have even commenced a pilot project with Germany and then Skoda Group from the Czech Republic expressed keenness to take part by offering investment," he pointed out.
The acting governor then stated that the development of corridor 1 of LRT Surabaya has been scheduled, adding that the East Java provincial government will mull over utilizing technology offered by Skoda Group to develop corridor 2.
"Regarding cooperation with Skoda Group, we are currently still in the exploration stage. We will coordinate with the Transportation Ministry, National Development Planning Agency, and Finance Ministry since we need funding from the central government," he remarked.
He further affirmed that the provincial government would soon decide on the cooperation offer received from Skoda Group.
"We will make a decision as soon as 2025, so we can immediately begin (the cooperation)," he concluded.
