Pamekasan, Madura (ANTARA) - A pickup car hit a tree at Pamoroh village in Madura island, East Java province, on Thursday afternoon, killing two people and injuring 11 others. The car carried a family to visit their relatives at Maddil hamlet on the occasion of Idul Fitri festivities, the head of the traffic unit at the Pamekasan police resort Adj. Comr. Moch Mahmud said on Thursday night. The fatalities were identified as Sidanil Fikri (12) and Jamilah (32). They were killed instantly in the scene, he said. The injured, including the driver were being treated at the Pamekasan regional hospital and some of them had been allowed to return home. Two of them, identified as Ririn (25) and Fery (5), were seriously injured, he said. "We cannot yet establish the exact cause of the accident. What is clear the accident was caused by the driver's negligence," he said. The car is being detained at the police resort for further investigation, he said.
