Jakarta, (Antara) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar at the Indonesia's Presidential Palace of Bogor in West Java province.
"I am delighted with Her Majesty's arrival in the Bogor Palace and hope that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Iran can proceed well," Jokowi said on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State Secretary Pratikno and Special Envoy of the Indonesian President for Inter-religious Dialogue and Cooperation and Civilization Din Syamsuddin.
Jokowi also encouraged increased visits among high-ranking officials of Indonesia and Iran.
He expected for increased economic and trade cooperation in the energy sector as well as direct flight plans.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed Ebtekar as his vice in August 2017.
In the previous government period, Ebtekar occupied the same position.
Since reigning Iran, Rouhani is a moderate cleric who has put more women in his cabinet.
