Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's 7th president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Sunday said he has entrusted the dreams, hopes, and great ideas of the nation to newly inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto.
Before leaving for his hometown in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday, Widodo said that not all challenges could be resolved during his administration.
"We could not handle everything. Therefore, I have entrusted the dreams, hopes, and great ideas of the 280 million Indonesian people to President Prabowo," he added at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta.
According to Widodo, the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration has the enormous task of handling all existing problems.
Prabowo and his ranks must accommodate all the desires and ideas of the Indonesian people, he said.
"I am wishing good health and strength to President Prabowo in leading this country," he added.
On the occasion, he also conveyed his final message to the Indonesian people: to live in harmony and support nation-building.
"Be harmonious and hand in hand to build this country, as conveyed by President Prabowo," he said.
Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 term during a plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday.
A total of 709 out of 731 MPR members witnessed the inauguration. The plenary session was also attended by national figures, political party leaders, and representatives of friendly countries.
After his inauguration, President Prabowo and several ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet 2019–2024 sent off Widodo from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base to Solo.
Widodo flew to Solo with his wife Iriana Joko Widodo, accompanied by several protocol teams and escorted by the Presidential Security Guard (Paspampres).
His return to Solo was also marked by a flypast of military aircraft.
