Denpasar, Bali (Antara) - Indonesia's biggest party PDIP has named Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as its presidential candidate for the election in 2019.
When asked to confirm the nomination, cabinet secretary Pramono Anung when accompanying President Jokowi in a working visit to Bali on Friday told newsmen to wait for the results of the party's third national working meeting held at Grand Inna Bali Beach Hotel that day.
President Jokowi who is a PDIP cadre indeed attended the meeting on the sidelines of his working visit.
The meeting was held behind closed doors and no newsman was allowed to cover it while it was still ongoing.
But after President Jokowi arrived at the meeting Pramono Anung who is also a PDIP cadre tweeted through his official twitter @pramonoanung saying that "at the third National Working Meeting (Rakernas) today @PDI_Perjuangan has decided to nominate @jokowi as a candidate for president for the 2019-2024 term office. Bismilla (he) will win and get support from all people of Indonesia #Bant3ngPilihJokowi#T3tapJokowi."
Pramono tweeted the information at 4 p.m. or after President Jokowi delivered his speech at the meeting.
Pramono's tweet has been re-tweeted by 117 accounts and received more than 150 likes.
President Jokowi is expected to give a press conferencr after distributing the certificates for all traditional plots of land for temples across Bali before returning to Jakarta.(*)
