Bojonegoro (Antara) - The Oil and Gas Special Task Force announced that the oil production of the Cepu Block field in Bojonegoro District, East Java, will increase to 40 thousand barrels per day (bpd).
This information was revealed here on Wednesday by the Head of Project Acceleration Cepu Banyu Urip Julius Wiratno.
"The oil production in Cepu Block was 30 thousand bpd, but now, it will increase to 40 thousand bpd," he noted.
Julius explained that the oil production of Cepu Block will increase due to the addition of three new oil wells. Therefore, currently, there are six oil production wells and two gas and water injection wells.
"The oil produced in the Banyu Urip field within the Cepu Block is transported through a pipeline to the coast in Tuban District, East Java. Some of the oil is processed in Tri Wahana Universal's oil refinery in Bojonegoro," he remarked.
The oil distributed to the sea is transferred to a large crude carrier ship, Gagak Rimang, with a capacity of 1.7 million barrels.
Out of the 33 wells, the Mobil Cepu Limited (MCL) operator has completed the drilling of 20 oil production wells with depths ranging between four thousand and five thousand feet to reach the oil production peak at 165 thousand bpd, he revealed.
Julius emphasized that the oil production target from the Cepu Block set at 165 thousand bpd can be achieved between July and August 2015 after the construction, engineering, and procurement phases of the Cepu Block project are hundred percent complete.
"We estimate that between April and May next year, the oil production from the Cepu Block will reach half of its peak production target," he added. (*)
