Surabaya, East Java (Antara) - Golkar Party general chairman Aburizal Bakrie introduced two of former president Soeharto's daughters at a campaign rally in Surabaya, the capital of East Java on Saturday.
"How are you? It isn't that life was better during the New Order and the Golkar era than now," one of the Soeharo's daughters, Siti Hedijati, or Titik, said to supporters in her speech at Jatim Expo.
The presence of Titik and Siti Hardyanti at the rally was meant to attract supporters.
Titik, meanwhile, had also appealed to people in East Java to vote for Golkar so that life would return to what it had been during the 32 years of New Order government.
Speaking in the local Javanese language, she said many people lived happily during the New Order government of former president Soeharto.
Golkar, which was the dominant party during the Soeharto era, has often promoted Soeharto's phrases, such as "Enak Jamanku", to mean "Life is better during my era, isn't it?" in an effort to lure the public to vote for the party in the April 9 legislative elections. (*)
