Two Indonesian Become Human Trafficking Victims in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur (Antara) - At least two Indonesian women have been victims of human trafficking after being employed as prostitutes in Malaysia.
The two women that aged at 17 and 18, were promised employment as shop keepers in Malaysia. They were forced to go to Malaysia a month ago as both girls had to pay for debts in their hometown.
According to the local media in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, the Malaysian Police saved the victims after inspecting two locations in Bukit Rahman Putra of Sungai Buloh, Selangor on Wednesday at 22 hours, local time.
The inspection that was led by Superintendent Assistant Shahrul Nizam Jaafar has arrested ten Vietnamese women of 22 to 31 years old, who were employed as prostitutes in the location.
Shahrul confirmed that the two Indonesian women were forced to work as prostitutes after having been promised jobs as shopkeepers.
"They sought to work in Malaysia to clear off debts. Unfortunately, they were sold to the prostitute agency," he clarified.
Shahrul noted that the case will be investigated based on the Human Trafficking Law.
"The preliminary investigation indicated that all the women were sold to the prostitute agency," he declared.
The Police also arrested two men, aged 25 and 30 years, employed as housekeeper in the location. (*)
