Indonesian Consulate in Houston Provides Lawyers for Arrested Ship Crew

Denpasar, Bali (Antara) - Indonesian Consulate in Houston, U.S. has provided a lawyer for an Indonesian ship crew, Bali's Chief of Agency for Placement and Protection of Migrant Workers (BP3TKI) I Wayan Pageh stated here on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that an Indonesian man, working as a crew member in a Netherlands-flag cruise ship, heading to the U.S., got arrested by the FBI for allegedly assaulting a woman passenger. The arrest was done on February 16.
According to media report in the U.S., the Indonesian, originally from Bali felt insulted by the woman passenger's words when he served breakfast in her room. He then planned to enter the woman's room using a spare key to assault her.
"Indonesian Consulate General in Houston has arranged a lawyer for him," Pageh confirmed, adding that the Indonesian ship crew was a legal worker and had completed documents for working abroad.
The Indonesian ship crew has now been detained at the Broward County jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (*)
