Jakarta (Antara) - The Technology Information Academic Forum said it would be ready to help the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to uncover alleged corruption in the procurement of electronic identity card (e-KTP).
The Academic Forum said the state suffered a potential loss of up to Rp2.1 trillion in the procurement of e-KTP all over the country, its chairman Hotland Sitorus said on Monday.
Based on the calculation of the Forum , e-KTP project cost only Rp3.8 trillion - Rp4.1 trillion , but the state has provided a budget of Rp5.9 trillion for it, Hotland said.
He said suspicion of irregularities in the procurement of e-KTP was not only in the process of its tender , but also in technology.
Hotland doubted database, computer server and supporting applications had been available.
The fact that e-KTP could not be accessed by police, the immigration , the home affairs ministry, the General Election Commission (KPU) and other related institutions prove that database, computer server and supporting applications have not been in function, he said.
In addition, the quality of the e-KTP form and data chips is not clear, he added.
Therefore, the Forum offers to help KPK in validating the software and hardware used in the production of e-KTP, he said.
"All of them have to be validated, and for which we are ready to help KPK," he said.
He said fixation of price of units , procurement of software and hardware , are potential to be targets of corruption.
He said KPK should summon the minister for home affairs Gamawan Fauzi the one in charge of the implementation of the e-KTP project.
Former lawmaker Muhammad Nazaruddin, who is now serving jail term for corruption, has infuriated Gamawan for alleging him of graft in the e-kTP project. (*)
