Cairo (ANTARA/Xinhua-OANA) - Egypt's ex-president Hosni Mubarak was moved from prison to a military hospital in the capital Cairo after his health sharply deteriorated on Tuesday evening, a security source told Xinhua. Mubarak was move to a military hospital in Cairo's Maadi district, close to the Tora Prison in southern Cairo where the former president had been jailed since June 2. Official MENA news agency confirmed the news. Mubarak's heart stopped beating from some time in Tora Prison on Tuesday evening, the prison source said, adding that the former president was treated by electric shock. Mubarak also suffered a stroke, state Nile TV reported. Mubarak's lawyer Farid el-Deeb thanked the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) for transferring the former president to a military hospital and treating him as a military man, according to a local private TV channel. The 84-year-old man has suffered shortness of breath and severe depression since he was moved to the prison to serve his life term on June 2.(*)
