Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has partnered with Arizona State University to build an ecosystem for the semiconductor industry in the country.
The cooperation is a concrete step in implementing the road map for the development of the ecosystem in Indonesia.
"Indonesia has signed a historic MoU (memorandum of understanding) related to scientific and educational cooperation in the semiconductor sector," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said in a statement issued by his office on Saturday.
Hartarto witnessed the signing of the cooperation pact between the Indonesian semiconductor ecosystem preparation task force and Arizona State University in Washington D.C., the United States, on Thursday.
The MoU was signed by deputy for coordination of international economic cooperation at the ministry, who is also chair of the Indonesian semiconductor task force implementation team, and the president of Arizona State University.
"This MoU can encourage the growth and resilience of the strategic supply chain of the semiconductor sector and optimize the opportunities of the ITSI Fund program through cooperation between Arizona State University and the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, US DOS (Department of State), that existed prior," the minister said.
Arizona State University is running several leading programs, including a semiconductor workforce accelerator, semiconductor faculty certification, and semiconductor supply chain policy development and management.
As a follow-up, the Indonesian semiconductor task force and Arizona State University will form a team to prepare an action plan to implement the MoU.
Besides cooperation with Arizona State University, Hartarto also conveyed Indonesia's readiness to accelerate economic growth and sustainable investment with the US at the Roundtable Luncheon meeting organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) in Washington D.C
