One Dead, Spme 200 Injured After Christmas Festivities in Argentina

Buenos Aires (ANTARA/RIA Novosti) - One man died and some 200 were injured as a result of careless use of fireworks during Christmas celebrations in Argentina, the country?s Health Ministry reported. A 27-year old man was hospitalized in the city of Granadero Baigorria after a firecracker exploded in his mouth but doctors were unable to save his life. The ministry said that a total of 193 people were hospitalized after the Christmas festivities with two third of them being residents of the country?s capital, Buenos Aires. Most of the hospitalized are children and teenagers, who sustained burns of hands and legs as well as damages to their eyes. An 8-year old boy sustained 37 percent of burns to his body after a firecracker flew into a window of his room starting a fire. Last Christmas some 180 Argentineans were hospitalized for the same reasons.(*)
