Jakarta,(Antara) - Indonesia will hold an international meeting on way to cope with terrorism in Bali on Wednesday, the foreign ministry said here on Tuesday.
The meeting called "International Meeting on Counter-Terrorism: Countering Cross-Border Movement of Terrorism" will be organized by the office of the Coordinating Minister for Law, Security and Political Affairs.
It will be held to coincide with the "Counter-Terrorism Financing Summit", to be held by the Financial Service Transactions and Reporting Center (PPATK) of Indonesia and its Australian counterpart (AUSTRAC).
The "Counter-Terrorism Financing Summit"will take place from August 8-11 in the same place.
The two related meetings are aimed at strengthening international cooperation networks to cope with the threat of cross border terrorism including the actors, information and flows of funds.
The meetings also will focus discussion on the emergence of a new phenomenon of "Foreign Terrorist Fighters" (FTF), and misuse of information on technology extreme and radical ideologies.
According to the Coordinating Ministry of Law, Security and Political Affairs, terrorism has become an international concern in the past several years including Indonesia.
Terrorism has continued to pose a serious threat not only to international peace and security but also to social economic development, it said.
Terrorism is an extraordinary crime causing great losses including in lives but no country is safe from the threat.
Therefore, the Indonesia government wants all countries and international organizations need to strengthen cooperation in battling terrorism, it said.
Through the meetings to be held in Bali , participating countries would discuss ways of improving capability and strengthening cooperation to intercept the movements of terrorists from one to another country.
The participating countries will exchange views and agree to share intelligence information on terrorism including on information on funds used by terrorists and weapon smuggling.(*)
