Jakarta (Antara) - The people of Indonesia should change their paradigm of consumptive lifestyle to the empowerment of productive sectors to improve the nation's economic condition, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokow).
"The government has changed the consumptive paradigm to productive one," the president remarked in his State of the Nation Address before the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Annual Plenary Session 2015 here on Friday, the president said.
With productive paradigm in mind, the president noted that the government sets its focus on the development of various infrastructure such as toll roads, railway network, water reservoir, and power plants in numerous regions.
But the president acknowledged that still some other problems including food fluctuating prices, imbalances, corruption practices, and low enforcement have yet to be addressed completely.
Therefore, Jokowi expressed hope in his state of the nation address that such problems could be addressed well.
The head of state also mentioned that the cabinet reshuffle he made a few days ago was intended to speed up and improve government performance, and to improve the welfare of Indonesian people.
As has been reported that the acceleration of infrastructure development in numerous areas across the country aims to improve the people's welfare.
"The regional governments need to make the consolidation of economic potential in the regions in order to have positive impact on the regional welfare," according to Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Suryo Bambang Sulisto.
Suryo noted that the consolidation can only be successful if it is supported by the cooperation between the regional governments and the business world.(*)
