Jakarta (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has raised doubts that Bangkalan district head Makmun Ibnu Fuad, who was recently arrested by the agency, had helped his father Fuad Amin in receiving bribes.
"His son was one of the recipients of the bribe money who later extended it to his father. He is part of the ring," Adnan Pandu Praja, the KPK deputy chief commissioner, stated at the KPK Building here on Wednesday.
On Monday night, the KPK caught the speaker of the Bangkalan district legislative assembly Fuad Amin Imron red-handed while receiving bribe money, Praja remarked here on Tuesday.
Fuad Amin, a former regent of the district, was arrested along with two others suspects such as director of PT Media Karya Sentosa (PT MKS) and Antonion Bambang Djatmiko who paid the bribe and middleman Rauf who received the bribe money for Fuad Amin.
The KPK has also arrested first navy corporal Darmono who was caught paying the bribe.
Adnan said the KPK has confiscated Rp700 million from the suspects.
It was a well-known fact and was commonly believed that Fuad Amin had received money on a regular basis in connection with a gas purchase agreement for a company owned by the regional administration (BUMD) since 2007.
The money received by Fuad Amin was part of an agreement reached with his bribers in 2007 when he still held the post of regent of the district, Adnan revealed.
"The proofs are so evident that he could not deny them," he said.
Adnan gave assurance that Fuad Amin's son would be summoned.
"When the time comes, he will be summoned because he is part of the ring," he asserted.
He believed that Makmun Ibnu Fuad had also received bribes.
"There are indications about it in view of the current case," he added.
He said that although the agreement between Fuad Amin and PT MKS had been signed since 2007, he had evidence that PT MKS had made routine payments to Fuad.
"I do not know, but the agreement has been signed since 2007, and so, it has been very long," he said.
The KPK is currently still looking for other money sources that have been received by Fuad Amin, besides the Rp700 million as evidence and another Rp4 billion discovered in proximity to Fuad's home.
Fuad Amin has, so far, been known as a religious and Madurese community figure. (*)
