Police Find 10 Hectares of Marijuana Fields in Mandailing Natal

Medan, N Sumatra (Antara) - Police found 10 hectares of marijuana fields at the top of the Tor Sihite mountain in the district of Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra.
The marijuana field were found in 10 locations in the village of Simandolang, sub-district of Penyabungan, Madina police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Mardiaz Kusin Dwihananto said via telephone from Madina, said on Sunday.
There were 75,000 stalks of marijuana and around 2,000 of them were being dried by the owners of growers to be ready to go to the market, Mardiaz said.
The owners , however, were not found in that location, when police and officers of the National Anti Narcotics Agency (BNN) launched the raid on Sunday he said.
Obviously somehow they knew police were coming and they fled to nearby forests, he said.
The police also found a scale in a hut where the marijuana growers had spent the nights in the steep terrain, he added.
He said police knew there were marijuana fields in the countain on tip from the people.
Police left that location after the plants were destroyed by burning them in that place.
Earlier the Madina police found 11 hectares of marijuana fields in the village of Raorao Dolok, in the neighboring sub-district of Tambang, and 2 hectares in the village of Hutabangun, in the sub-district of Panyabungan Timur, in the same district. (*)
