Jakarta (Antara) - TNI (military) commander General Moeldoko met with board members of the Association of Provincial Governments in Indonesia (APPSI) to discuss security situation in the regions here on Monday.
The meeting was attended by APPSI's chairman Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who is the governor of South Sulawesi, West Java Governor Ahmad Heriyawan, East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek, Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail, Central Kalimantan Governor Terang Narang, and Maluku Governor Said Assegaf.
General Moeldoko said the governors had informed about the development of security situation in their respective regions, which was still conducive.
He expressed hope that the situation will remain the same when the General Election Commission (KPU) announces the official result of the presidential election on July 22.
"The situation will hopefully remain conducive tomorrow. All anticipatory measures have been implemented at a standby mode. We hope it will go well and peacefully," he said.
Syahrul Yasin Limpo meanwhile said that the meeting had been initiated by APPSI.
"We have explained about the social and political situation and conditions in our regions. In essence, the situation is peaceful and secure. The situation is inseparable from the presence of TNI as well as police forces," he said. (*) Reported by Syaiful Hakim
